Android Users Could Receive Money from $135 Million Settlement
This allegedly used up people's cellular data, which they pay for.
Google did not admit to doing anything wrong, but they agreed to pay to resolve the case.
Who Can Get Money?
You may be eligible if you:
- Live in the United States
- Used an Android phone or tablet to access the internet using cellular data (not just Wi-Fi)
- Used the device anytime since November 12, 2017
You don't need to prove that you were harmed. You just need to meet these basic requirements.
Note: Some people may not qualify, especially if they were part of a similar lawsuit in California.
How Much Money Will You Get?
Because millions of people likely qualify, individual payments will be small. Most people can expect to receive between $1 and $1.50.
However, the maximum payment is capped at $100, depending on how many people file claims.
How to Claim Your Payment
If you qualify, you should receive a notice by email or regular mail. This notice will include:
- A notice ID
- A confirmation code
You will need these to choose how you want to receive your payment on the official settlement website.
Important: You don't need to fill out a formal claim form, but you must select a payment method. If you don't, you might not get your money.
Important Dates to Remember
- May 29 – Deadline to opt out or object to the settlement
- June 23 – Final court hearing to approve the settlement
If the court approves the settlement, payments will be sent out after that date.
